016. Will Franken (part 1)

In this episode I’m talking to renowned comedian Will Franken – for whom the label “alternative comedian” doesn’t seem quite enough. We spoke for so long that I’ve had to split this interview into two parts, with part two going online soon. In this instalment Will discusses his childhood in the American mid-west and the community of misfits and weirdos – and family – who inspired his comedy career. He also talks about the humourlessness of political correctness, and the modern misunderstanding of satire. You can find out more about Will Franken’s work through his website or by listening to his podcasts.
